Tom D’Angora: “Why I wanted to produce Harmony on Broadway”

Dec 21, 2023

Tom D’Angora is an Emmy and Tony nominated theater producer, director, and writer, and is currently on the producing team for Harmony: A New Musical. We asked Tom to share a little about why he wanted to produce Harmony on Broadway. The below is directly from Tom.

As a lifelong Barry Manilow mega fan, I of course was very interested in being a part of a musical he wrote, but nothing could have prepared me for how much I would fall in love with Harmony.

The first time I saw the show and experienced the flawless marriage of Bruce Sussman’s brilliant book and lyrics with Barry’s magical score, mixed with the pristine direction of Warren Carlyle and the perfection of the cast led by Chip I was instantly obsessed.

I found myself going to see it over and over again while the show was downtown, and I knew I had to be involved in a bigger way when we transferred.

I don’t know how to explain it, but when I’m watching Harmony, I feel like a “theater kid” again. I feel the way I did when I first moved to NYC two decades ago when seeing a Broadway musical felt so new and so magical. Harmony is the first musical in years that I truly want to see over and over and over again.

Though I have seen the show over 30 times I still cry every single time and am still left in awe by the cast, the staging, the design, and of course the exquisite material. I have never been so honored to be a part of a show in my life, but when it comes down to it I feel more like a fan of Harmony than a Producer, because every time the overture starts I instantly get goosebumps and get lost in the story telling. It’s truly a once in a lifetime show.

I couldn’t be prouder to be on team Harmony.
